About Me
Lisa Harline, BMu
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music (BMu) from Brigham Young University. In particular, my degree is in music pedagogy. This is the study of private studio teaching. I have been teaching for over 40 years. In addition to private studio teaching, I have taught 4th and 5th grade recorder and strings. I love to teach. I love to see the growth in my students. I love to see that "a ha" moment in their eyes.
Teaching Style
I was taught in the Classical style, so that is how I teach. I use a variety of method books and supplemental music. Classical music is a sure foundation to learning any other style of music. Classical style includes learning to read music, music theory, good technique, and how to perform. My students perform in 3 recitals a year: January, May, and August. I also believe in having fun in music. Many of my students like to learn music featured in video games and anime. Students practice better and more often when they like what they are playing.
